SPIRITUAL FORNICATION

Scripture tells us that our body is not ours; it is that of the Holy Spirit. In Revelation 2:20, the seduction from the spirit of Jezebel leading to fornication might include a physical nature. However, God is speaking of sin which is ultimately spiritual.

When someone is choosing to be disobedient, this rebellion can yield curses, chastisements, and other correction causing regret. The trouble that someone can bring upon themselves from disobedience is beyond any initial ‘seeming yield.’ God certainly makes it ‘just not worth it’ to betray Him.

Without true repentance, which includes being sorrowful, the sincere desire to change one’s ways, and a commitment to do God’s will, much can go wrong in life.

The punishment that a sinner without repentance can bring upon themselves can let them know that they are not God, and God is.

1st Kings 20:28-29 And there came a man of God and spoke unto the king of Israel, and said, This saith the Lord, Because the Syrians have said, The Lord is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the Lord. And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day.
