God commands us to love one another ‘as He loves us.’ To love in the way that God loves is involved, to say the least, and this is an ongoing learning process.
Jesus said in John 15:12 This is my commandment, that ye love one another as I have loved you.
God’s love includes many things such as being sacrificial, encouraging, selfless, and holding others in higher esteem than oneself. Love includes having mercy, grace, tolerance, patience, and creating joy along with peace. Most of all, love is sharing the gift of Jesus Christ with others.
Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself.
Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.
1st Thessalonians 5:13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
